Weekend goalscorers Terry Gornell and John Marquis have both spoken of their delights at finding the net and picking up a much needed win last weekend.

Starting with Gornell who hit a brace on the day, he told the Official Site that he was still desperate for it to work out for him at Cheltenham but he knows he hasn’t been getting the goals that everybody wants him to, so thanking the fans for sticking by him, he’s hoping that his duck is now over.

The 24 year old explained.

‘It felt great to get the goals, especially in a win, which we needed massively. I hope I can kick on now and I’ll keep working hard like I always do because nobody wants it to work out here more than me. I love the area and I’d like to thank the fans because it’s been a long two weeks, but they have been great to me and I’m so glad to give something back to them. I want to get a lot more goals for them now.’

John Marquis also found the net in the game and it was his first goal for us since joining on loan from Millwall.

‘We definitely needed the win because it’s been a long time coming. It was also nice to score and hopefully it can set us up for Tuesday and we can get back to back wins at Cambridge.’

Marquis had of course scored in the win over Oxford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy but to have opened his league account now was very pleasing and manager Mark Yates has already commented that he’s delighted to see our strikers starting to find the back of the net now after previous struggles so hopefully it’s clicked now.
