Manager Mark Yates has said everybody in the dressing room was left frustrated following another narrow loss to Burton last weekend, but he promised that everyone was continuing to work hard to find a solution to our current run of form.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil loss, Yates admitted that it was another of those games where we just didn’t get that slice of luck and unfortunately for us, Burton did.

‘I thought both teams looked nervous. You could tell we hadn’t won in a while and you could tell Burton hadn’t either. We had a couple of chances but we’re disappointing with the goal and I don’t know where that has come from. In the second half we decided to turn up and play with a lot more tempo, energy and drive. It was just a case of not being able to score. We need to be braver, we should be turning performances like the one in the second half into points.’

Yates goes on to say that mainly it’s about us being ‘mentally braver’ to go in and make things happen or be brave enough to take a gamble on something happening and anticipate that bit of luck and the ball coming our way instead of always being on our heels trying to react to things.

‘In the first half we didn’t have a pass in us and we didn’t even do the basics right. In the second half I thought we were really good and we had to be, we changed our system a little bit and we have to work out ways how we can make something happen from the start.’

He goes on to say that he fully expects criticism, and he’ll take it, when it comes to our lack of goals at the minute and he has no problem with that because he’s as frustrated as anybody when it comes to us being in front of goal and not making things happen, but ultimately he knows it’s down to him and the players to find the ‘solution’ to that and make it count on the pitch moving forward.

‘We are still looking for that person to put the ball in the back of the net, it’s up to whoever starts to grab the bull by the horns and make it happen. They are more than capable and I thought they (strikers) were a real handful in the second half but unfortunately it’s not quite happening for us.’
