Manager Mark Yates has said he feels Cheltenham did deserve all three points from the game against Tranmere Rovers yesterday.

Cheltenham made hard work of it with us needing to come back from two goals behind, but even then speaking to the Official Site the manager said he was pleased with our first half showing.

‘I thought the win was no more than we deserved. I was really pleased with the first half performance and I had a dilemma with Richards in the hole but we kept it as it was so I will take responsibility for the first goal. We created chance after chance and the goalkeeper has made good saves but we also couldn’t get on the end of a few things.’

Despite being behind at the half time break Yates goes on to explain that at half time he was insisting to the players that if they kept performing like they were we would definitely get something out of the game because we were causing so many problems and it was just the final finish that was lacking really.

‘Omari has hit the post and you start to think whether it’s your day, but it just needed somebody to get that goal. We scored at a good time and it was a big goal for us. You concede and all of a sudden you are on the backfoot and after that there was only ever going to be one winner.’

The gaffer goes on to say that we then added a couple of great goals to the tally, and the match will go down as being one of the best moments he’s had with us.

‘We were excellent but I’m just disappointed we conceded a couple, but I always felt we’d get something out of the game.’
