Manager Mark Yates has said that he feels there were some great performances on display in our victory over Hartlepool United last weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game where Jermaine McGlashan’s strike 16 minutes from time was enough to return all three points to us,Yates was clearly happy with what he saw.

‘I thought it was a really good game of football and we played some great stuff. I was really pleased with many aspects. For the first 50 minutes we played a diamond and they did too but Neil felt we were open and I think the change made all the difference. There were some really outstanding performances and, when we’ve taken the lead, we have made some blocks when we needed them.’

Yates goes on to say that they had one set piece opportunity that was nigh on reminiscent of the goal we conceded on Tuesday night, but clearly the analysing and work the players did during training to rectify that error and deal with it better paid off as the players listened and all credit to them for that.

‘It was a bit of everything and I thought the players produced a solid and hard working performance but played some decent football too.’

For the fans he thought both teams put in a good showing to be fair, but again it was the change we made late on in the game that made all the difference and we frustrated them from that point and got our noses in front.

He also admits that Byron Harrison wasn’t quite livid in the dressing room afterwards but he was adamant that he was brought down and got a spot kick but we won so he wasn’t going to let that irritate his night in any event.
