Cheltenham Town have today confirmed that manager Mark Yates has swooped for defender Lee Vaughan.

The 27 year old right back is our first signing of the summer and has penned a two year deal with us at Whaddon Road.

He joins us from Kidderminster Harriers as a free agent as his deal with the expired this summer, and he moves to us having rejected their offer of a new deal.

Speaking to the Official Site Vaughan said he couldn’t wait to get his Football League career going.

‘It’s exciting and I can’t wait to get going. When I made my mind up about leaving Kidderminster it was all about finding the right club and the right manager in the right league. I feel like I have done that.’

Vaughan goes on to say that he doesn’t know Yates well yet but he knows what he has achieved at the club over the last few seasons, despite our disappointing 2013-14 campaign, and he knows the gaffer is a winner, and promotion will be the aim.

He also adds that over the last few years, he has spoken with the manager a few times but for whatever reason a move hasn’t come off earlier, but he feels it’s definitely the right time now.

Described as a tough tackler, in his time at Aggborough he has made 178 appearances for them, with 51 of those coming last season.
