Despite our lack of triumph in the Play Off Semi Finals, Mark Yates has talked of it as being a good season and one in which he is proud of the players.

After seeing Northampton gain revenge on each of our league victories this season, by taking both Play Off legs 1-0 to win the battle 2-0 on aggregate, Yates told the Official Site.

‘We had lots of chances today but their keeper has played unbelievably well. They’ve got the job done on us but I’m really proud of everyone. We showed people what we’re about which we didn’t do on Thursday. We got beaten by a great strike but played very well.’

Yates goes on to credit Marlon Pack, saying he ‘has been outstanding all season and possibly my best player since January 31st’. Yates also doesn’t believe he can shoulder any blame for the penalty miss, and he also credits Michael Hector for his ‘massive performances’ this term, pointing out that he had a pain killing injection in his ribs so he could play a part today.

Unfortunately Yates has to concede though that ‘they were brilliant but even if we were there until 9am in the morning I don’t think we’d have scored, we’ve been unfortunate and it just wasn’t our day.’

The manager says now is the time to look back fondly on all the positives from the campaign, and acknowledge the failures, so we can continue to grow as a club for next season and address how we will improve further on our current standing.
