Manager Mark Yates has said that Cheltenham will be ready for Exeter on Boxing Day and we’ll be looking for another three points to build on the Fleetwood win.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Yates said the team simply needed to keep doing what we had been doing of late as we approach our next fixture.

‘We’ve got to keep going like we are. We’re playing well and with confidence and the work rate has been phenomenal so that’s got to stay the same.’

Yates adds that all teams approach the Christmas fixtures with the same thing in mind, it’s a great opportunity to pick up points quickly given how the games come and you can soon find yourselves either shooting up the league or down the league depending on results, and we are no different but we have to ensure we don’t get carried away, we have to keep looking at it as one game at a time and focus on getting the most of out it.

Yates also had praise for assistant Neil Howarth, joking that he didn’t throw him out to do the press, but he is a big part of what happens at the club and given the hard work he does in the background it’s only fair that he gets the interviews following wins as well, and of course for the fans sometimes it’s good to hear from a fresh voice.

He adds that they are on the same page anyway and most of the time they both see things the same way, so it’s just sharing the limelight a little.

As for the run we are on, maintaining that will be of key importance over the festive fixtures and Yates has been delighted with that because going 10 unbeaten, especially with the start we had, is a big achievement in this league, especially as teams are beating each other and the division is quite open really.

Again though, the focus is on us, what we can do, and making sure we put in the best possible performances in each game so we do continue to climb the table now and put us where we want to be.

Exeter will be a test but ultimately Yates knows that if we perform how we are capable, we have every chance of another three points and victory.
