Mark Yates isn’t getting too carried away with the loss to Plymouth, but he knows the team simply have to do better than that.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the manager explained that he felt he and the players owed the supporters an apology after that performance, especially for ‘an inept last hour of the game.’

‘We started brightly, had a few chances and could have scored a couple but once they scored we were powderpuff at best. It’s not acceptable but I won’t go over the top. The players know they need to be better.’

Yates adds that he feels only Steven Gillespie came out of the game with any credit, but other than him, everyone else was disappointing.

‘I’m the manager so I’ll take the rap but the players must share that. We were second best and that’s not good enough.’
