Paul Baker has confirmed that Cheltenham Town will be offering new terms to a potential new first team coach later this week.

Interviews for the position were held last week at Whaddon Road, and for Baker we have worked with a short list of three very good and capable candidates, and it appears he has a favourite.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘We’ve interviewed three. We will be making an offer to one of those candidates this week. The offer goes out to him and I hope he will accept.’

With the announcement of Steve Elliott as a player/coach for this coming campaign, the appointment of a further specific first team coach will bolster manager Mark Yates backroom staff and Baker obviously hopes that additional support will pay dividends for us moving forward.

‘I’ve really excited about the new structure we are putting in place. Mark has really bought into it and we had a board meeting last Friday and, without doubt, Mark gave his best presentation yet to the board of directors.’

Baker goes on to say that ahead of the coming campaign now, our manager looks and sounds ‘reinvigorated (and) refreshed’ and he’s certainly looking at new ideas and proposals because he knows with a larger backroom and coaching staff, more can be achieved during the days training.

‘Steve Elliott was just the first piece in the jigsaw.’

Be interesting to see who will be the last.
