Matt Richards has said his aim after joining the club was to secure promotion this season.

Speaking to the Official Site Richards said that he’d been told he’d already missed the hardest session of the summer which pleased him, but he assured fans he’d been working on his own fitness and he’ll be throwing himself into sessions now so he’s ready to go come the start of the season.

‘I’m confident I can help the club reach the aim of promotion. This squad looks very good and hopefully this will be the year. It was similar at Shrewsbury because we went a couple of years floating around the play offs but hopefully this will be our year and it looks like it could be a very good season.’

He also says he likes to pass the all around and he does chip in with the odd goal, although he comments he’s ‘not a bad penalty taker’.
