Neil Howarth has said that he feels players are enjoying pre season because it’s not like the old days of endless running.

Speaking to the Official Site Howarth said that he assumes it’s the same at every club now, but Cheltenham have the footballs out early – even for a spell on the first day back – as it’s no longer running just for the sake of it, it can be incorporated to achieve more and provide some enjoyment at the same time.

He also says the players will be in for a short session tomorrow and although we could’ve had a game last Saturday and looked to give people 45 minute run outs, having the extra training sessions means they’ll be looking for most first teamers to complete around 70 when we face Evesham.

‘The boys are in at 3pm on Tuesday. It’ll just be for an hour and it won’t be anything hard, the boys will end the day with an hour of football. We have enough bodies with the trialists and dipping into the youth team, but we have no problems with some players playing an hour to 70 minutes.’

Howarth adds that everybody has been impressed with Josh Rees who has come to us on trial after leaving Arsenal and it’ll be a good opportunity to judge him in a live game now.
