Cheltenham Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Russell Griffiths in the one nil victory over Grimsby Town at the weekend at Blundell Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Griffiths was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Griffiths was in form as Cheltenham claimed a 1-0 victory away at Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two. Billy Waters finished off a well-worked free-kick to win it, but the Robins’ stopper excelled at the other end, particularly frustrating the division’s joint top scorer, Omar Bogle.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Griffiths for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Russell Griffiths (Cheltenham Town), Jon Meades (Wimbledon), Jordan Willis (Coventry City), Alex Baptiste (Preston North End), Brad Potts (Blackpool), Erhun Oztumer (Walsall), Anthony Wordsworth (Southend United), Paul Anderson (Northampton Town), Ayoze Perez (Newcastle United), Ollie Palmer (Leyton Orient), Adam Campbell (Notts County).

Manager – Steve Bruce (Aston Villa).
