Jack Deaman has today put pen to paper on a one year contract with Cheltenham Town.

The young defender has been on trial with the club for the past few weeks, and he’s impressed folks at Whaddon Road and manager Mark Yates made the decision to offer him a deal following his efforts.

The 21 year old because the latest addition to the team, and the gaffer told the Official Site following the annonucement.

‘Jack is here to provide stiff competition for places in defence. We need a few defenders in the building and he can play in a few different positions so we’re delighted to have signed him. He’s a young lad who we have known for a while when he was with Birmingham and he was perhaps a little unlucky that we didn’t take him last year.’

Having been on trial with us this time last summer, Yates says Deaman has definitely ‘gorwn, matured and strengthened up’ in the past 12 months, but he still has plenty of developing left to do and he’s looking forward to playing a part in that now he’s with us.

This is obviously Deaman’s second spell at Cheltenham following an earlier loan spell back in the 2012-13 season, but he didn’t make his debut back then for us.

He has been handed the No 15 shirt for the season.
