The Robins next two fixtures against Macclesfield and Lincoln look like a good opportunity to pick up valuable points. Whilst Cheltenham can move themselves away from the drop zone with victory today then can also drag Macc back into the relegation mix.
Mark Yates (from ctfc.com): ‘The fact that we’ve picked up four points from the last two games whilst playing well has given us confidence. We’ve worked hard this week and we’ll make sure we turn up at Macclesfield ready.
‘They are a big, strong side with one or two players that can play and we’ve got to make sure we deal with that and play our own game. We have to continue to show we’re a decent team with decent players and aim to get that victory.’
Gary Simpson is set to be without Ricky Sappleton, Colin Daniel and Carl Tremarco for the visit of the Robins.
The former Lincoln & Notts County man has been doing it for years at this level. Always a goal threat from midfield, the Robins defence will have to be wary of his presence near the penalty area.
Mark Yates has a fully fit squad, but can only include five of the seven loanees he now has in his squad. Scott Brown and Kiernan Hughes-Mason could feature after signing this week, whilst Josh Low may return after missing last week’s clash with Port Vale.
The youngster from Blackpool impressed last week with his movement and awareness off the ball and adds an extra dimension to the Robins forward line. Having now trained with his teammates for a full week, he should hopefully be utilised to full effect today.
With recent defeats for Macc and Cheltenham’s good away form under Yates I fancy the Robins to shade this one. A tight 2-1 victory.
